LabEquipment NG
The challenge

Nigeria doesn't have an equipment shortage — it has a visibility shortage.

Over 500 universities, polytechnics, and research institutes across Nigeria own equipment ranging from basic tools to sophisticated analytical instrumentation. But without a shared record of where it actually is, most of it stays invisible — even to the institutions that own it. Researchers lose weeks or months just tracking equipment down, some give up and scale back their work rather than keep searching, budgets buy duplicates that already sit nearby, and the research output all that investment should produce falls short.

How it works

From search to access, in three steps

No accounts, no bookings, no middleman — just a direct line to the institution that has what you need.

1

Search the directory

Look up equipment by name, manufacturer, or institution — nationwide.

2

View the listing

See full specs, availability, and exactly which institution owns it.

3

Reach out directly

Reveal contact details and arrange access with the institution yourself.

Why LabEquipment NG

Built for everyone who needs it, not red tape

Free to use

No fees to search, and none to list your institution's equipment.

Verified listings

Every listing is reviewed before it goes live — no stale or fake entries.

No middleman

You deal with the institution directly — we just make them visible.

Nationwide coverage

Growing across universities, polytechnics, and research institutes.

Why it matters

A shared directory is national research infrastructure

Nigeria's tertiary and research institutions represent a huge, largely uncounted investment in scientific equipment. Making it visible turns scattered assets into a resource researchers, industry, and regulators can all draw on — a direct contribution to the country's research output and its progress toward the sustainable development goals.

We're a research initiative from ICEESR, University of Uyo, built with the Network of Nigerian Women in STEM (NWISTEM), with the generous support of the SLB Foundation — maintained as shared national infrastructure, not a product any one institution has to fund alone.

Faster research

Equipment found in minutes, not months of asking around.

Smarter investment

Funders and institutions see what already exists before buying more.

National visibility

Every listed institution counted as part of Nigeria's research capacity.

Compliance confidence

Industry and regulators get a live picture of national testing and analytical capacity, without building it themselves.

For institutions & partners

Is your institution's or lab's equipment invisible too?

Get your laboratories and equipment listed in the national directory, and give researchers everywhere a reason to come to you first. This isn't just for universities — private labs and industrial facilities with testing infrastructure, and regulatory or standards bodies, are just as welcome to list.

  • Free, forever — no listing fees, no subscription, no catch.

  • Full credit — every listing carries your institution's or facility's name.

  • National reach — visible to researchers across Nigeria, not just your campus.

Ready to find what you need — or be found?

Whether you're searching for equipment or sitting on some that's going unused, the directory only works if you're in it.
